Abstract
1,227,828. Cathode-ray tubes. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 16 July, 1968 [18 July, 1967], No. 33841/68. Heading H1D. A post-deflection accelerating electrode 31 is provided with a flange 35 adapted to produce an electric field which is more strongly convergent with increasing distance from the tube axis in the diagonal direction than in the two main deflection directions, thereby reducing pincushion distortion. Preferably the height of the flange 35 varies, being minimum in the deflection direction of the electrostatic deflecting plates nearer to the fluorescent screen, higher in the deflection direction of the other deflecting plates, and maximum in the diagonal directions (Fig. 5, not shown); as an alternative, or in addition, the flange may be non-circular. The electrode 31 may be flat or curved, and may be a foil, a tensioned grid, or a net.
