Abstract

1299285 Cathode-ray tubes LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 16 July 1970 [16 July 1969] 34574/70 Heading H1D A post-deflection acceleration system includes a rectangular plane grid 6, Fig. 3, connected to and surrounded by a rectangular frame having a rim 1 which extends in the direction 7 towards the fluorescent screen (not shown) and acts as a correction electrode to correct for pin-cushion distortion; the height h of the rim varies round the periphery, and the angle α is selected to produce the required correction. In addition a further box-like electrode 2 is provided adjacent the grid and may support the grid through insulation 5. This electrode 2 may be maintained at a higher potential than the grid 6 so that any secondary electrons emitted from the grid are collected by the electrode 2 instead of bombarding the fluorescent screen. In addition the electrode 2 screens the second pair of deflection plates 3 and its potential has some effect on the distortion and may be adjusted to correct for manufacturing tolerances in the rim 1. The grid 6 may be a thin foil, a lattice grid, or a parallel wire grid.
