Abstract
1328080 Cathode ray display tubes THOMSON-CSF 27 Oct 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 50010/71 Heading H1D A p.d.a. cathode ray tube with fluorescent screen includes a quadrupolar lens 9 for deflection amplification after horizontal deflectors 8, quadrupolar lens 11 after vertical deflectors 10 for deflection amplification, p.d.a. conductive coating 15, cup-shaped p.d.a. acceleration electrode 12 provided with a slot for beam passage as in Fig. 3, planar correction disc electrode 17 as in Fig. 4 with slot of configuration similar to electrode 12 but at right angles thereto, and planar correction disc shaped electrode 19 having an opening symmetrical with the directions of vertical and horizontal scanning (e.g. Figs. 5a, 5b (not shown), or other complex shapes). Reference is made to Specification 1,157,202 and the correction for variations in sensitivity parallel to the vertical and/or horizontal scanning axes due to the rectangular slot in p.d.a. electrode 12 in prior art constructions. Screen electrode 16 has a rectangular slot and with electrode 12 defines an equipotential space around lens 11. The sides of the arcs in Fig. 4 are connected by small circular arcs which improve defect correction. Electrode 17 potential may be independently controlled to eliminate vertical trace defects appearing in the screen image. Electrode 19 slot shape is determined experimentally to correct residual distortions due to horizontal trace scanning defects, the electrode controlling the penetration of the p.d.a. field. Conductive coating IS may be of graphite and Wehnelt electrode 4 is included.
