Abstract

1366070 Pressure-sensitive adhesive coating IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 Nov 1971 [22 Dec 1970] 60908/70 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B8 and C3] A backing material such as paper, cellulose film, metal foil, tape or cloth is coated with a nitrocellulose bond, water-dispersible, pressure sensitive adhesive composition. A polyvinyl alcohol-primed and silicone coated release paper may be applied to the coating. The adhesive composition contains, in addition to the nitrocellulose, an alkyl phenol polyethylene oxide condensate in a solvent for the nitrocellulose. Optionally, a damping agent for the nitrocellulose, a conventional plasticizer, and a tack-improving resin may be present. In the Examples, the backing material is clay-filled calendered Kraft label paper.
