Abstract

A packing material comprises a base layer of paper, cloth, or plastics, provided on one side with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer the exposed side of which is permanently coated with a thin porous layer of individual elements, which prevents the packing material during its storage in the form of, for example, sheet piles or rolls, from sticking together, but allows a part of the adhesive through when the packing material is exposed to a pressure exceeding the storage pressure. The individual elements may be fibres or granules. The pressure-sensitive adhesive may be based on one or more of the following materials:- GR-S, neoprene, polyisobutylene, alkyd resin, ethyl cellulose, acrylic resin, vinyl resin or natural latex, and may include a plasticiser.
