Abstract

1363654 Packages; blades for trays P E ELFORD 29 Oct 1971 [29 Oct 1970] 51521/70 Headings B8C and B8P A blank 10 for a tray comprises a rectangular base 11 having diagonal corners, wall portions 12, 13 and corner strengthening tabs 20. The wall portions 12 have two parallel score lines 18a, 18b at each end forming wall corner portions 21 and uniting portions 22 which are glued to the wall portions 13. The tray is erected by placing a plurality of articles thereon and lowering the assembly in a die which firstly erects the tabs 20, secondly erects the wall portions 12, thirdly bends over the portions 21 and 22 and lastly erects the wall portions 13. Portions 22 may be received inside or outside the wall portions 13. The erected tray and contents may be shrinkwrapped. In a modification, a triangular strengthening tab 20 is formed by a cut extending perpendicularly between score lines 18a and 18b, the line 15 then forming an extension of this cut and running parallel to the boundary of the blank
