Abstract

1362775 Kettles N C JOSEPH Ltd 10 June 1971 [17 June 19701 29318/70 Heading A4 [Also in Divisions H1 and H5] Steam generated near the open end 19 of hood 18 passes upwardly to a vapour space 23 above the maximum water level 21 and passes through a pipe 17 to impinge on the thermal element 16 of a thermal switch mounted externally of vessel 10 which cuts the power supply to immersion heater 14. A smaller immersion heater may be simultaneously switched on to maintain the water temperature. A reset button 28 is provided to reconnect immersion heater 14. The thermal switch is mounted in the socket 15 of the immersion heater. A second thermal switch with its thermal element adjacent a wall of vessel 10 is provided for cutting the supply should the immersion heater become exposed e.g. when the vessel boils dry.
