Abstract

1361862 Inertia switches RHEINMETALL GmbH 24 Sept 1971 [7 Nov 1970] 44553/71 Heading H1N An electrical impact detonator switch comprises a housing 1 forming one contact and a rotationally symmetrical moving contact 5 biased to a rest position by spring 7, contact 5 being movable axially and tiltable under its inertia so as to contact housing 1. The switch is mounted in the nose 2 of a projectile and on hitting an object, contact 5 is moved by its inertia against spring 7 to contact the inside of housing 1. One end of spring 7 urges an insulating bush 8 against contact 5, centering it on spring-loaded pin 16, which follows contact 5 when it moves, and the other end of spring 7 bears against an insulating bush 9 located in an axially adjustable socket 11 threaded in bore 12. Bore 12 is closed by a bolt 13 which has a shank 14 for guiding bushes 8 and 9.
