Abstract
1,273,800. Grenade or mine fuze. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 8 Aug., 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 39906/69. Heading F3A. Fuze for hand or rifle grenades or mines comprises in combination an ignitable delay composition 4, propellent composition 5 ignited by the delay composition and which causes a first contact member 9 connected to a battery 7 to move to an armed position. In this position, either as shown a second co-operating contact member 14 connected to the battery is free to be moved by shock or impact to engage the first contact and so detonate the grenade or mine, or alternatively the first contact member is arranged to move under shock or impact after arming, the second contact member being fixed. As further shown, the ring member 14 is centred by springs 13. An insulating disc 10 and movable insulating cup 12 isolate the contacts in safe position. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the first contact member is carried on one end of a conductive spring which allows lateral movement after arming. The arming movement is performed by movement of the battery as a whole. Release of a handle 1 allows a percussion cap 2 to strike a primer 3. The propellent gas also forces caustic potash solution from a reservoir 6 into the battery 7 to activate it.
