Abstract

1361338 Water-tube boiler AQUA-CHEM Inc 12 May 1972 [29 June 1971] 22410/72 Heading F4A A water-tube boiler comprises lower and upper tanks 12, 14 connected by at least two rows of risers arranged as an inner row 20 and an outer row 22 relative to a furnace area 31 which has a burner (34), Fig. 2 (not shown), adjacent one end; flow between adjacent tubes of row 20 is prevented by webs 78 and between the tubes of row 22 by webs 82, so that.there is a passageway 88 between the rows which communicates with the furnace area through an opening 80, Fig. 5, at the end nearest the burner, so that combustion products from the burner pass along the furnace chamber and back again, through the opening 80 and between the rows of risers to an exhaust 90. Preferably rows of risers and passages as described are located on either side of the furnace chamber. Downcomer tubes 104 also connect the upper and lower tanks. There may be additional rows of risers (136), Fig. 6 (not shown), connected by webs and extending into the furnace chamber on either side of the burner, and additional risers (138) between the inner and outer rows.
