1360385 Evaporators for producing solid particles STRUTHERS SCIENTIFIC & INTERNATIONAL CORP 15 July 1971 [13 June 1970] 28720/70 Heading B1B Material is produced in the form of particles of a required size range by providing a bed of particles 8, smaller than the required size, above an inclined perforated grid 6, blowing hot gases, e.g. air upwardly through the grid to fluidize the particles, and coating the particles with a solution of the material by means of nozzle 9. The hot gases evaporate the solvent from the coated particles and they grow in size, the pressure of the hot gases being adjusted so that the large particles of the desired size range fall from the bed onto grid 6 and roll down to exit tube 10. Solvent-laden gases leave the apparatus through duct 11. Grid 6 is preferably made of a heat-insulating material.
