Abstract
136,013. Gasch, A. Jan. 27, 1919. Overlap joints with packing at base or mouth of socket.-A pipe coupling of the kind in which a socket member as A is fixed to a tap, and is connected by an intermediate member to a tubular member B on which a hose pipe is secured is constructed, as shown, with an open cylindrical sleeve a<4> between the members A, B, this sleeve being formed with a rim a<5> with which engages a flange a<3> on the member A. This member A is secured by screws a<2> to a tap, and a tight joint is secured against the tap by screwing up a flanged coupling nut b which moves the member B longitudinally, thereby compressing a washer a<6> to form a tight joint between the members a<4>, B, and also compressing a washer a<5> on the sleeve a<4> against the rim of the tap. The device may be used for connecting filters to taps or supply pipes.
