Abstract

1358130 Spindle mounting WHITIN MACHINE WORKS Inc 24 Oct 1972 [26 Oct 1971] 49038/72 Heading DID [Also in Division F2] A roving frame spindle comprises a shaft 14, an attached flyer 16 and a drive 71, 72 for rotating the shaft 14. The drive in operation determined the speed-dependant frequency of a variable force acting on the spindle assembly to induce vibration thereof and there is a resilient mounting 31 having a deflection rate in relation to the effective vibrating mass associated with the vibrating spindle such that the natural frequency resulting therefrom is less than the frequency of the vibration-inducing force. As shown, the resilient mounting 31 is a push-fit in the upper limb of bolster bracket 11. The resilient bushing permits limited pivotal movement of the spindle shaft 14. A stabiliser 88 is used to reduce nutation of the shaft 14.
