Abstract

1390498 Washing machines HOOVER Ltd 14 April 1972 [16 April 1971] 9688/71 Heading D1A An assembly including a horizontal rotary drum 9 of a clothes washing machine is supported from a frame or casing 35 from below by at least two springs 28, each of the springs surrounding a guide strut 37 with a universal joint 30, 31 at each end one 31 only of which permits relative axial movement between the strut and joint, and further stabilising means 61, 65 being provided. As shown the stabilising means comprises a pair of springs 61 with axes disposed in a vertical plane through the drum axis and a pair of springs 65 in a perpendicular plane. The lower bush 55 is split or may be in two parts (Fig. 5, not shown) to provide friction damping when it is pressed against the partspherical surface 51 on the casing bracket 33.
