Abstract

A washing machine has a horizontal drum 4 whose two shafts 5 are mounted in removable bearing supports 20, 30 arranged in the wall of the tub 1. The first support 20 is latched to the tub wall, whilst the second support 30 has the form of a bushing 31 with a shoulder 34 which is slid into a cylindrical recess 32 in the tub wall. The shoulder 34 is urged against the interior of the tub wall by the elastic force as a result of an axial Compression of the drum 4 between the two bearing supports. The support 20 is held in its bore by a bayonet coupling 26 and has a recess 27 which is out of centre so that the angular position of the support can be adjusted to adjust tension of a drive belt (11), Fig. 1 (not shown), inside the tub.
