Abstract

1,270,950. Washing machines. GIRLING Ltd. 5 Aug., 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 38244/ 68. Heading D1A. The tub assembly 1, which includes a tub rotatable about its central axis, of a clothes washing machine is supported from a base 3 disposed below the tub assembly 1 by a plurality of units 4 with axes which are inclined to the vertical and converge upwardly, each unit comprising a telescopic damper mounted co-axially within and providing lateral support for a helical compression spring. The axes of the units 4 converge on the vertical axis through the CG of the tub assembly which may be supported by three units (Figs. 1, 2 not shown) or by two units 4, when the tub assembly is further located by two links 8. Each link 8 has a pin-and-slot upper connection 9 to the tub assembly and a stiff resilient bush at the lower end which is pivotable about an axis parallel to the horizontal axis of rotation of the tub.
