Abstract

1356960 Sieve drum textile treating apparatus VEPA AG 22 June 1971 29244/71 Heading D1L In a textile treating process a web of material 8, is fed as a layer of given thickness to a liquid treatment bath 1, the layer is caused to increase in thickness as the material is passed round the periphery of a sieve drum 2 located in the bath 1, and treating liquid is sucked through the material and the surface of the drum 2 by a pump located inside the drum and is then recirculated to the bath 1 via conduits 11, 12 and 13 and manifold 17, the spent carrier liquid being continuously replenished with treating agent 15 before it re-enters the bath 1. As illustrated the material 8 is preferably passed round the sieve drum in piled or tightly folded condition between a wire mesh transport belt 3 driven by rollers 4-7, the distance x between the belt and drum being chosen to produce an optimum thickness of material. In Fig. 2 (not shown), a loose flock to be treated is packed 'between the transport belt and the drum and the apparatus also includes a hopper feeder for the flock upstream, and a washing installation downstream, of the treatment bath.
