Abstract

1355162 Stoppers etc; portable containers DART INDUSTRIES Inc 8 March 1972 [9 March 1971] 10844/72 Headings B8T B8D and B8X A closure member 10 comprises a radially fluted wall 14 with a planar centre area 16 and an upwardly extending side wall 26; an interlocking top wall 12 having an integral central bush 13; and an axially movable plunger 15. In operation the flange 45 is gripped between the fingers and the plunger 15 depressed with the thumb creating axial pressure on planar area 16 causing collapse of the flutes (18), Fig. 3 (not shown), and radial contraction of the side wall 26 and sealing bead 32 enabling the closure to be inserted or removed from a container. The closure may be combined with a container 20 having a pouring spout 25 and a venting slot 17; and a ledge 34 and a bead 23 which act as lower and upper stops for the bead 32.
