Abstract

1,028,011. Container closures. ROWNTREE & CO. Ltd. May 15, 1962 [May 24, 1961], No. 18750/61. Heading B8T. A portable container comprises a cylindrical body wall and an end closure having a circular groove, defined between an inner surface 20 which extends from the mouth of the groove axially with a radially outward inclination and an outer surface 22 which extends from the mouth of the groove axially with a radially inward inclination, so that when the closure is forced on to an end of the body wall, the end is pinched in the groove. A similar closure is provided at the other end of the body wall. Each closure has a cradle surface 14 to support the contents, e.g. an Easter egg, the cradle being resiliently supported by a bellows portion 16 having annular creases 18. The body wall may be of cardboard while the closures are of metal compressed paper or polystyrene.
