Abstract

1352133 Hydraulic circuits; reciprocating pumps ARMSTRONG PATENTS CO Ltd 27 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 20282/70 Headings F1A and F1P An hydraulic ram 12 Fig. 1, is connected to a pump unit 24 by a pair of lines 14, 16 each of which has a throttle device 54 and the pump unit has an integral reversing valve 18 for directing fluid to extend or retract the ram. The stroke of the ram may be restricted by closing a valve 48, Fig. 2, and diverting the fluid from the return line 14 into a chamber 38 below a spring- loaded piston 40, the volume of which can be adjusted by a screw 52. The pump, Fig. 3, comprises a piston 70 with a valve 76. A checkvalve 68 is provided and operation is manual. The reversing valve 18 is housed in the base of the pump and comprises a rotary member 84, Fig. 4. A spring-loaded overload valve 96 is located in the member 84. As described the ram is used for tilting the cab of a lorry.
