973,707. Reciprocating motors and pumps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. April 19, 1963 [Jan. 22, 1962], No. 2189/62. Heading F1A. In a pump or motor comprising a revolving cylinder block 11, Fig. 1, engaging a non- rotatable, ported block 5 and angularly adjustable with the block relative to a drive member 3 to vary the displacement, block 5 is angularly adjusted and prevented from lifting away from the housing face 8 by spring-loaded pistons 28, Fig. 2, one of which is connected directly to the high pressure port and the other to this port via a control valve. Pistons 28 act between block 5 and members 30, Fig. 1, in the housing. Check valves are provided in the piston circuit so that the appropriate piston-28 is connected directly to the high pressure port when change-over from pump to motor operation is effected. Port block 5 is also biased against the housing by springs 9.
