Abstract

1340908 Reciprocating pumps and motors ABEX CORP 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 25869/71 Heading F1A A hydraulic transformer for transferring power in either direction between two separate hydraulic circuits, e.g. main and auxiliary circuits in an aircraft, requires two swash-plate pump or motor units 2 and 3, Fig. 1, with their rotary cylinder blocks 12, 12a drivingly connected by a shaft 5, and their high pressure ports 9, 9a connected to the respective circuits 90, 94, Fig.4, a third port 11, 11a being located between the high and low pressure ports 9, 9a, 10, 10a and being connected by a valve 62, 62a to the high pressure port of the unit acting as a motor and the low pressure port of the unit acting as a pump, so that the motor operates at full displacement and the pump at reduced displacement, to enable the circuit which has lost pressure to be brought up to the same pressure as the other circuit. In Fig.4, valves 62, 62a are spring biased to pump-mode position against the circuit pressure acting in chambers 80, 82. In Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the valves are controlled by the pressure in the ports 11, 11a. Leakage collecting in chamber 41 is obtained through ports 43, 43a.
