Abstract

1351695 Rotary positive-displacement machines GENERALVACUUM SpA 14 Sept 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 42686/71 Heading F1F In a sliding-vane motor inlet conduits for the working fluid e.g. compressed air, are constituted by ducts 19 and passageways 20 in a shaft 13 for the rotor 11, slots 17 for the vanes 18, and channels 28 in the trailing faces of the vanes. Flow of fluid into the passageways 20 from an admission port 27 is regulated by an arcuate slot 26 in a spring-loaded plate 21, which is held against rotation by a pin 24. The spent fluid is ejected through a recess 12 and port 130. To vary the output the plate 21 may be replaced by a similar one that can be rotated manually to alter the position of the arcuate slot, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). Alternatively, the effective length of the arcuate slot can be adjusted by a manually-movable sector-plate, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown),. To facilitate arrangement of the motor as a first stage of a compound motor the port 130 may be replaced with a duct 31, which communicates with an inlet port 32 in the second stage, the latter being similar to the motor shown but lacking the ducts 19, passageways 20 and channels 28.
