Abstract
1351648 Crimping chambers; threading AKZO NV 13 July 1971 [14 July 1970] 32832/71 Heading D1F A yarn being threaded through a stuffer box crimping chamber is temporarily discharged via a suataon device which only operates when a sensor senses a sufficiently large yarn wad in the chamber. Suction device 25, Fig. 1, is used to discharge yarn from chamber 10 and is controlled via air valve 27 by a sensor comprising light 16 and cell 17. The device 25 when sucking prepared yarn, e.g. from spinneret 2, may be moved manually so that the yarn end is led around the yarn path, the chamber 10 having a hinged wall to allow the end to be passed through the chamber. The chamber may comprise, Fig. 2 a crimping chamber 10 closed by weighted flap 12 and a further chamber 13 closed by sprung flap 15. The sensor may alternatively by a switch responsive to the position of flap 12 or 15. Rollers 8, 9 or a fluid stream may be used to stuff the yarn.
