Abstract

134,931. Webb, P. R. Nov. 13, 1918. Control mechanism.-The admission of air and fuel to a carburettor of a motor-cycle are controlled simultaneously or independently by a single lever. A plate 8 is secured by hooked bolts 4 and nuts 5 to the handle-bar 1 and carries a bolt 9, which forms a pivot for an angle-plate 12. The vertical limb of the angle-plate has secured to it by rivets a, b a pulley 16a, and the horizontal limb contains a pulley 13 which can be rotated about a bolt 11 by a lever 14. Bowden or like cables 15, 16 pass to the air and fued regulators. Moving the lever 14 in the horizontal plane actuates the cable 15, and by depressing the lever the angle-plate is tilted and the cable 16 actuated. The lever may be hinged and provided with a sleeve to keep it rigid when required. The pulleys may be mounted eccentrically or may be of cam shape or may be replaced by bell-crank levers. The limbs of the angle-plate may also be mounted ecentrically and are not necessarily at right-angles to one another.
