Abstract

1348824 Cams A OTT 28 June 1971 [26 June 1970] 30232/71 Heading F2K In a cam mechanism for quick traversing winders of a textile machine wherein a follower skid 5 is reciprocated by engagement with a double helical endless crossed groove formed in the surface of a rotating cam drum 1, the groove comprising two double helical grooves 2, 2<SP>1</SP> of opposite hand joined at their ends by reversing transition double grooves 4, 4<SP>1</SP> and having a centre supporting guide rail 3, for the skid, extending throughout the endless groove thus forming the double groove, the reversing transition double grooves 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are formed to a sine curve between points V to facilitate smooth linear reversal of the skid 5 and reduce abrasion and consequential wear thereby permitting faster operation of the textile machine. The centre guide rail 3 is relieved on its inner face 10 at the reversing transition grooves 4, 4<SP>1</SP> to enable a long skid to be utilized, the skid being suitably grooved for engagement with the guide rail which it engages at three points B as it rounds the transition reversing grooves 4, 4<SP>1</SP> as seen in Fig. 2.
