Abstract

1436441 Yarn traversing means BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 14 Sept 1973 [14 Sept 1972] 43198/73 Heading D1J A traverse mechanism comprising a filament guide 1", Fig. 4, reciprocable by a rotating reversing thread roller 24, and in which the guide 1" feeds the yarn 7 being wound to a grooved roller 30, the rollers 24 and 30 being geared to each other, is characterised in that the grooved roller 30 has successively a grooved section (C), Fig. 6, of increasing groove depth, a grooved section (F) with a constant maximum groove depth, and a groove section (DG) of decreasing groove depth, section (C) beginning at the longitudinal centre of the grooved roller 30 and having a progressively increasing angle of inclination along its base; section (F) beginning before the stroke reversal point and ending adjacent the stroke reversal point; and section (DG) ending before the longitudinal centre of the grooved roller and having an angle of inclination along its base which, in the first part (D) of this groove is greater, and in the second part (G) of this groove is smaller, than the maximum angle of inclination of the groove section (C). The package 3 is driven by a drive roller 4 that is preferably polished. The grooved roller 30 may have a matt-chromed surface formed by sand-blasting, followed by hard chroming of the roughened surface. The roller 4 and the roller 30 may be driven at different speeds.
