Abstract

1395345 Drum driven winding apparatus BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 2 June 1972 [4 June 1971] 25796/72 Heading D1J To control the pressure between a package driving roller 2 and the package 25 on which the roller 2 rests, the roller 2 is arranged to move upwardly in a plane E, the axis 24 of the package tube being laterally offset as at b relative to the plane E in the direction of the peripheral movement of the driving roller 2 at the lower of the two lines where the plane E intersects the periphery of the driving roller 2, the plane E and a plane V containing the axis of the driving roller 2 and the axis 24 of the package tube when empty forming with one another an angle of from 30‹ to 70‹. The plane E may be inclined or vertical. The aforesaid angle is preferably 45‹ when the package supporting tube is empty. The roller 2 has helical yarn guide grooves in only the terminal zones of the yarn-traverse, there being a main traverse roller 1 mounted above the roller 2 and moving upwardly therewith. A piston and cylinder unit can be used to provide partial support to the roller 2 and the main traverse roller 1 mounted above it. When the package supporting tube is full it is swung out from under the roller 2 at the same time as a fresh empty package supporting tube is swung into its place. The roller 1 reciprocated a yarn guide 7. The traverse roller and the roller 2 may be designed to produce two short packages instead of one long one.
