Abstract

1449231 Grooved roll for guiding traversed strand ZINSER-TEXTILMASCHINEN GmbH 5 Sept 1973 [5 Sept 1972] 41803/73 Addition to 1396404 Heading D1J In a grooved cylindrical roller of the type used in the winding machine described in Specication 1396404; wherein the roller is located to contact traversed yarn running to winding means and the maximum width of each groove crest is no greater than the maximum width of each groove trough; at least the end zones of the roller have circumferential grooves each of which has flanks of different angles of inclination to a plane perpendicular to the roller axis, the steeper flank being that which is closer to the rollers middle. The roller surface between the two end zones may be smooth. The angle of the steeper flank may be up to 6‹, e.g. between 2‹ and 4‹, and of the less steep flank 25‹ to 35‹, e.g. 30‹. The grooves may have a saw-tooth profile, and at one or both end zones may form helical threads or parallel circular threads.
