Abstract

1,165,193. Filling cans with yarns. CROON & LUCKE MASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H. 9 Dec., 1966 [29 Sept., 1966], No. 55254/66. Headings D1D, D1F and D1J. Yarn is fed into a rectangular can, which is being reciprocated in a first direction, by a pair of feed rollers extending in a second direction, perpendicular to the first direction, with one of the rollers being reciprocated in the second direction. As described there are a plurality of can filling stations extending in a row. Each station has a reciprocable feed roller connected to a common reciprocating rod, and a yarn guide upstream of the feed rollers and so connected to the rod that it reciprocates with the feed roller and also relative thereto to prevent localised wear of the feed roller which is composed of, or has a coating of, silicone rubber. The rod is reciprocated by being in screw threaded engagement with a stationary nut and by being rotated by a drive the direction of rotation of which is changed by adjustable limit switches engageable by an abutment on the rod. Each reciprocable feed roller is mounted on a pivoted frame and on yarn breakage, is moved away from the other feed roller which is driven and extends over all the cans. If the yarn is supplied from a skein holder a brake is applied to the holder on thread breakage. A yarn may alternatively be supplied from a bobbin creel. The cans are supported on two carriages each of which is reciprocated by a chain driven by a shaft. Adjustably positioned limit switches are disposed at the reversal points of one carriage and reverse the direction of drive to the shaft. The cam walls may be composed of gratings.
