1348437 Electro-photographic element MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 30 Sept 1971 45604/71 Headings G2C and C17D2 An electro-photographic element comprises a conductive support having a layer of an organic photo-conductor comprising poly N-vinyl carbazole, a poly N-alkenyl carbazole or a nuclearsubstituted poly N-vinyl carbazole but no organic sensitizer and a sensitizing organic layer on the photo-conductive layer comprising an organic sensitizer dispersed in a polymer matrix. The conductive support may be aluminium, a flexible film coated with cuprous iodide or glass coated with tin oxide. The photo-conductive layer may include chlorinated diphenyl as a plasticizer and a polycarbonate or epoxy resin. The sensitizing layer may comprise a pyrylium or carbonium salt or the reaction product of a pyrylium salt and a pyrane as a sensitizer and a polycarbonate or polystyrene. The photoconductive layer may be exposed to U.V. radiation to render it insoluble prior to application of the sensitizing layer.
