Abstract
1,249,734. Electro-photographic apparatus. ADDRESSOGRAPH-MULTIGRAPH CORP. Feb. 3, 1969 [Feb. 5, 1968], No.5716/69. Heading G2H. An electro-photographic apparatus has an endless belt 20 movable past a charging station, an exposure station 28, developing station 30 and a transfer station 32. The belt comprises a photoconductive layer 44, Fig. 3a, on a conductive layer 92 carried on an insulating layer 90. A conductive strap 98 connects conductive layer 92 to a conductive strip 96 which engages a roller 22 connected selectively to earth or to a D.C. source 84 for applying reference potential between the conductive layer and developing means and between the conductive layer and a charging electrode. The belt 20 may have a base of transparent plastics material, e.g. cellulose acetate or polyester terephthalate film. The conductive layer may be a metallized layer of aluminium or copper-formed by vapour deposition or a metal layer containing semi-conductor and binder dissolved to form a coating. Examples of semi-conductive materials are halides of silver, bismuth, gold, indium, iridium, lead, nickel, palladium, rhenium, tin, copper tellurium and tungsten.
