Abstract

1348155 Sheet tensioning apparatus BAKER PERKINS JAXONS Ltd 22 Aug 1972 [8 Sept 1971] 41911/71 Heading DIA In a sheet tensioning apparatus a pair of clips 16, 17 for gripping two corners of a flexible sheet are moved between first and second loading positions A and B one on either side of the centreline of the apparatus where the clips lie side-by-side through a third unloading position (Fig. 1, not shown) in which the clips are spaced equidistantly from the centreline and the tensioned and straightened sheet is released to, for example, a feed roll 2 of a calender. The clips are slidable by a cable 22 on rails (13) (14) (Figs. 4, 5 not shown) of a bar 10 which is movable parallel to the roll 2 on two parallel pivoted arms 4, 5. The clips 16, 17 are secured to the lower and upper runs 24, 25 respectively of the cable 22 which is movable by a double-acting ram assembly 20, 21 to move the clips together and apart. The arrangement permits two operatives to load the apparatus in turn.
