Abstract

1,248,692. Stacking apparatus. ALFRED HARBS K.G. 7 Jan., 1969 [13 Jan., 1968], No. 937/69. Heading B8C. As apparatus for stacking timber, frames &c. comprises a portal-shaped frame 1, 2 carrying a pair of feed arms 5 and a pair of stacking arms 6, each pair being movable independently of the other pair, in a vertical direction, the free ends of these pairs of arms extending outwardly in opposite directions, retractable supporting members 16 for the stacking goods extending from each arm of a pair towards the other arm and movable out of the area of the stacking goods, and means associated with the arms for transferring the stacking goods from the feeding arms to the stacking arms. As shown, the pairs of arms 5, 6, are mounted on traverses 9, 12 mounted on carriages 10 movable vertically by endless chains 7, one arm of each pair being adjustable on the traverses, and the arms inchiding supporting members 16 which are movable apart. Stacking goods 25 laid upon the arms 5 are pushed by a driving arm 20 on to the stacking arms 6, slats 22 being fed from a magazine 21 between each layer of goods; the latter are laid on a pallete 24. The apparatus may be modified for use for destacking foods the latter being taken up on the arms 6 and moved on to the arms 5.
