Abstract

1347537 Gripper shuttle looms A FABRE 28 May 1971 [29 May 1970] 18166/71 Heading D1E A gripper shuttle loom wherein a weft presenter (not shown) inserts a weft 10 into the gripper shuttle 2 so that it is looped around a projection 9d and gripped between a fixed jaw 3 and a spring loaded movable jaw 5 has, at each side of the shed, clamps 15, arranged in the path of the shuttle as it leaves the shed and before the jaws are opened by a fixed abutment, so that the clamps 15 grip the weft 10 and hold it taut until the shed changes. The clamps 15 are then raised so that a fixed member 17 opens the jaws 15a to release the weft so that the end may be tucked-in and the shuttle picked in the opposite direction.
