Abstract

1346887 Plastics bags L H A JONES 7 Dec 1972 56466/72 Heading B8K The sides 4 and end 3 of a plastics bag are stiffened by a cardboard strip 1 to the inside surfaces of the sides and end, the stiffener being creased at 5 so that the end will fold when the bag is collapsed flat. The bag can be perforated for safety, be translucent, and may be of polyethylene, polypropylene, P.V.C. or P.V.A. The strip 1 is coated with a thermosealing strip which must be compatible with the material of the bag. The bag may have a gusset 8 and the open end can be closed by thermosealing or by pressure sensitive tape. The stiffener is located on a former (Fig. 3) and the bag drawn thereover.
