Abstract

1346050 Folding doors BRITISH LEYLAND TRUCK & BUS DIVISION Ltd 24 May 1971 [28 July 1970] 36548/70 Heading B7J. In order to reduce the blind spot caused by the frames, a public service vehicle folding door assembly includes first and second panels 1, 2 each comprising a frame 3, 5 which extends around all but one edge of a transparent pane of material 4, 6, e.g. glass, the excluded edges of the two panes being adjacent one another and being interconnected by a hinge 13, the hinge having first and second arms 14, 15 which engage or are connected to the two excluded edges and the arms of the hinge being interconnected by a resilient member 16. The hinge 13 is moulded in one piece from a resilient material (e.g. polypropylene), the arms 14, 15 being of channel shaped cross-section and may enclose the edges of the respective transparent panes. In this embodiment however each arm 14, 15 carries a metal U-section strip 17, 18 which encloses the edge of the pane 4, 5. The door assembly is also provided with top and bottom hinges 7, 8 of the pin and socket type.
