Abstract
1345249 Photographic silver halide dissolution using a #-disulphone EASTMAN KODAK CO 27 May 1971 [1 June 1970] 17625/71 Heading G2C Beta-disulphones are used to dissolve silver halide. The #-disulphone preferably has the Formula:- R 1 SO 2 -CH(R 3 )-SO 2 R 2 wherein R 1 and R 2 are each optionally substituted 1-4C alkyl and R 3 is H or optionally substituted 1-4C alkyl, and may be bis(methyl-or ethyl-sulphonyl) methane. These compounds may be used in fixing baths for developed silver halide materials, monobaths which also contain a developing agent, in a web for development and fixing or in the silver salt diffusion transfer process where the compound may be in a rupturable container or in a receiving layer. The #-disulphone may be used in an alkaline aqueous solution at a pH of at least 8 and the alkali may be trisodium phosphate.
