Abstract

1345161 Lamp-holders PRESSAC Ltd 8 Feb 1971 2454/70 Heading H2E A plastics lamp-holder for capless lamps is formed with a pair of oppositely facing internal ribs 4 between which fits the narrower thickness of the lamp base so that the lamp contacts and the holder contacts 5 are electrically connected. The ribs 4 comprise the parallel side limbs of a U-shaped rib and a projection or pip 7 is provided on the base of the lamp which is engageable with the web 8 of the U to prevent the lamp from being inserted too far. Should the pip be too small, the ends 4a of the ribs abut a shoulder 6 of the lamp to prevent it being inserted too far into the holder. Resilient carbon steel prongs 9 and flanges 10 are provided to mount the holder on a panel. The prongs 9 are integral with the contacts 5 and can engage flexible circuitry provided on flaps on the panel. Alternatively, the prongs may be integral with the plastics holder in which case electrical connection to the circuitry on the panel is made by means of solder tags extending through the base of the holder or by means of a male or female connector to be engaged with a complementary part on a lead. The holder may be circular in which case it is provided with camming portions which pass through lateral extensions in a circular panel opening and, in conjunction with a flange on the holder, clamp the holder to the panel.
