1344503 Universal pivots ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 7 May 1971 [16 May 1970] 13660/71 Heading E2F [Also in Division F4] A pivotally adjustable mounting for a vehicle lamp having a housing 1, preferably of plastics material, containing a reflector 2 and a bulb 17 comprises a socket 5 made of elastic plastics material which abuts both the rear wall 4 of the housing and a vehicle body panel 6, a metal plate 7 which is fixed inside the socket 5 and is secured to the panel 6 by screws 10, and a holding plate 15 which is located inside the housing 1 and is secured to the plate 7 by a threaded sleeve 12 which extends through an opening 14 in the rear wall 4 of the housing. The rear wall 4 is of spherical or cylindrical form and. both -the plate 15, which abuts the inside surface of the wall 4, and a part 8 of the plate 7 which abuts the outside surface of the wall 4, are of complementary form so that pivotal adjustment can take place within limits defined by the size of the opening 14. The connecting cable for the bulb 17 passes through a boss 20 in the panel 6 and through the threaded sleeve 12. Both the housing 1 and the socket 5 may be asymmetrical with respect to their curved surfaces so that by inverting one or both of them various ranges of adjustment may be obtained. An aperture 21 for the discharge of condensation from inside the lamp is located at the junction of the housing and the lens 3.
