Abstract

1,002,461. Sun visors. DRAFTEX G.m.b.H. Dec. 18, 1963 [May 15, 1963], No. 19317/63. Heading B7J. A sun visor 1, Figs. 1 and 3, moulded from expanded polystyrene or similar soft mouldable material incorporates a separately formed moulded-in supporting arm in the form of a rod 2 having a ball 3 at one end for universal connection with a ball socket type mounting 4, the rod being provided with flats 6, or being cranked as described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), in order to prevent it from rotating in the visor. The other end 5 of the rod projects from the visor for finger operation. The mounting 4 comprises two part-spherical parts 8, 9 secured together and to a vehicle body by screws 11 the two parts together providing a part-spherical seating of the ball and forming therebetween a slot 7 through which the rod projects for swinging movement through, for example, 105 degrees. The port 8 has a recess to receive a rubber or like tapering plug 10 which frictionally engages the ball 3. The mounting joints may be made of metal or synthetic resin.
