Abstract

1390926 Plug spanner IVES (ENGS) Ltd 24 Aug 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 41082/71 Heading B3N A plug spanner has a head 4 attached to a shank 6 by a joint which enables the head to pivot relative to the shank in at least one plane, and a sleeve 10 movable along the shank from an inoperative position permitting pivoting of the head relative to the shank to an operative position preventing such pivoting. As shown, the joint 8 allows relative pivoting of the head and shank in two perpendicular planes by means of an intermediate member 16 and pivot pins 18 and 26. The head 4 may be provided with an insert of rubber or like flexible material to aid removal of the spanner from a tightened nut or a removed nut from the head.
