Abstract

1343449 Knitting IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 28766/71 Heading D1K [Also in Division B5A] In a process for moulding an article, e.g. brassiers, motor car seats, upholstery, or luggage, from a knitted fabric composed of continuous or component-filament yarns of polymeric material, the fabric is first heated in a relaxed condition to develop a crimp in the filaments and to soften one of the filament components which serves as a bonding agent, and then shaped in a mould to form the article before it is allowed to cool. A preferred yarn material has a polyester core and a polyethylene sheath, but polypropylene, copolyester and copolyamides may be used.
