Abstract

1,143,385. Block copolyesters. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 30 June, 1966 [9 July, 1965], No. 29172/65. Heading C3R. [Also in Division D1] A block copolymer containing blocks of alkylene ester groups and polyalkylene ester blocks derived from an unsaturated di- or polybasic acid or ester forming derivative thereof, e.g. a block copolymer formed by heating together poly(ethylene maleate) and poly(ethylene terephthalate), is modified by adding thereto before, during or after applying it to a fibre, filament or fabric made from a synthetic crystallizable polyester containing alkylene ester groups and heating, an amine so that the blocks contain branches formed by the addition of an amine to the unsaturated groups of the unsaturated polyester blocks. The amine may be ethanolamine, ethylene diamine, a mono- or diamine ended polyethylene oxide or polypropylene oxide, urea or phosphonyl trisurea.
