Abstract

1343210 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 19 April 1971 [8 May 1970] 26034/71 Heading H2E A two part coupling 19, 20 has an engagement means 57 for contacting the conductive sheath 16 of a coaxial cable 11 and gripping the insulation 17 of the cable. Inwardly turned spring fingers 58 are cammed inwardly by the cam surface 61 when the sliding block 44 in coupling part 19 is moved up by the coupling part 22. The inner portion 67 of the engagement means 57 is dimensioned to fit tightly within the conductive sheath 16. The central conductor 14 enters a recess between contact walls 39, 40 in coupling part 20 and is gripped therebetween by the camming action of the nose of the walls 39, 40 and the portion 45 of the sliding block. Part 20 is provided with a bulkhead fitting 25, 23 with a seal 27. Seals 73 and 63 render the parts 19 and 20 and the part 19 and the cable insulation leak tight respectively. Pressurized gas may be admitted through plug 74. The support member 28 and the sliding member 44 are preferably of a dielectric material such as polyphenylene oxide.
