1343062 Paper and non-woven fabrics TACHIKAWA RESEARCH INSTITUTE 19 April 1971 [22 Jan 1970] 24354/71 Headings D1P and D2B In the manufacture of paper or non-woven fabrics from an aqueous dispersion of staple fibres or filaments of incompletely regenerated cellulose obtained by the viscose process, the water used to form the dispersion has a "converted salt concentration" of from 5 to 100 ppm. By "converted salt concentration" M.W. CaCO 3 is meant concentration of salt (ppm)X - M.W. salt The required "converted salt concentration" may be obtained by adding one or more salts of Mg, Ca, Zn, and/or Cd to tap water or softened water. The paper or non-woven fabric is made by wet-laying the aqueous fibrous dispersion. The wet-laid sheet may be treated with hot acid, e.g. H 2 So 4 , and Na 2 S, desulphurised, bleached, e.g. with NaClO, and dried.
