Abstract

1325138 Non-woven fabrics RHONE-PROGIL 20 July 1970 [25 July 1969] 1858/73 Divided out of 1234391 Heading D2B A composition suitable for making non- woven fabrics having improved drying properties and a high absorption capacity by a wet process comprises a mixture of at least 60 parts of viscose staple fibre, 10 to 25 parts of refined polynosic fibres, and 5 to 20 parts of acrylic fibrils per 100 parts by weight. The composition may be formed into a non-woven fabric by a paper-making process. An aqueous solution of a cationic polyamide may be added to the fibrous composition before sheet formation. The non-woven fabric may be subjected to heat and/or mechanical treatment. The viscose staple fibre may be modified by treatment with a polymerisable ethylenic monomer, e.g. acrylic acid or acrylonitrile, in the presence of ionising radiation.
