Abstract

1324391 Non-woven fabrics RHONE PROGIL 20 July 1970 [25 July 1969] 34989/70 Heading D2B A composition suitable for making non- woven fabrics by a wet process comprises a mixture of at least 45 parts of viscose staple fibre, 15 to 20 parts of bleached wood pulp, I to 10 parts of refined polynosic fibres, 5 to 15 parts of polyamide fibres and 15 to 25 parts of acrylic fibrils per 100 parts by weight. The composition may be formed into a non-woven fabric by a paper-making process. An aqueous solution of a cationic polyamide may be added to the fibrous composition before sheet formation. The non-woven fabric may be sujected to heat and/or mechanical treatment. The viscose staple fibre may be modified by treatment with a polymerisable ethylenic monomer, e.g. acrylic acid or acrylonitrile, in the presence of ionising radiation.
