Abstract

134,280. Stott, V. H., and Schofield, L. Oct. 25, 1918. Steam-traps. - The motion of an inverted bell 5 actuated by any excess steam at the dram end 26 of a low-pressure system, controls the pressure in the system. In one example, this is done directly by causing the lever 11 to operate a spindle 21, thus admitting steam from a high-pressure line 24 behind a valve 18, which thereupon closes; or, in a modification, the control is indirect, by regulating the gas supply to a gas-fired steam-generator. In the latter case, the products of combustion may be passed around the float chamber to warm the condensation water.
