Abstract

1340052 Cleaning apparatus AGFA-GEVAERT A G 4 Dec 1970 [4 Dec 1969] 57715/70 Heading G2H A photoconductive drum 2 is cleaned by a web 8 mounted on a unit 5 which is removable from the copier in a direction opposite to that in which the web is pressed against the drum. In use, web 8 passes from a supply reel 7 having a spindle 6 to a take-up reel 10 having a spindle 9 via a pressure roll 21 and guide rolls 22, 23 spindle 9 being driven via gears 15, 16 when the web is exhausted, a lever 25 on unit 5 is moved downwards whereby a follower 26 therein moves out of engagement with a cam 27 allowing roll 21 to move out of pressure engagement with drum 2 and allowing gears 15 and 16 to disengage. Unit 5 can then be removed by means of a handle 28. When unit 5 is returned, lever 25 is moved upwards and the engagement of follower 26 and cam 27 moves unit 5 in a direction B to force roll 21 on to contact with drum 2 against the bias of a spring 19 and to re-engage gears 15, 16.
